Mark Ludlow 30th September 2025

As a personal trainer in St Albans, as well as a nutritionist and life coach, it was a privilege to share my journey with the community where I now live and work: At the end of August 2025, my story was featured in the St Albans Times under the headline: “Chase consistency, not perfection: meet the lifestyle coach who lost 10 stone on his journey to fitness.” The article highlighted how my own struggles with weight, self-esteem and quick fixes eventually led me to discover a better approach: focusing on consistency, not perfection.

In the piece, I explained how I once weighed more than 23 stone and relied on crash diets like Atkins to lose weight fast. While that brought short-term results, it never lasted. The turning point came when I realised long-term change is about creating healthier, sustainable habits — not chasing perfection or punishing yourself when you slip up.

That’s the same message I now share with my clients across St Albans. Whether your goal is weight loss, improved fitness, or building confidence, the key is balance. You don’t need to be perfect every day. Missing a workout or enjoying a takeaway isn’t failure — it’s part of real life. What matters is that you keep going and build habits you can stick with.

The St Albans Times article also covered how I now help clients through a personalised and holistic approach. It’s not just about workouts — nutrition, mindset, and lifestyle all play a role in achieving lasting results. That’s why I created Sustainable Change Coaching: a way to help people move away from fad diets and finally achieve transformations that last.
